The Chandelure nodded and the two headed back to the police station with the robbers in tow. Upon their arrival, the secretary at the front desk quirked an eyebrow at the group, but decided to say nothing as she rang up a jailor to take the three criminals to their temporary holding cells.
Jackie watched them unhappily be led away, her gaze staying even after they were out of sight. The captain’s face was contemplative, but what was on her mind was not the three criminals. After a pause, she suddenly spun around and faced Coco. “Do you mind coming with me to my office? I have a few things I want to discuss with you.”
That was fun! Coco thought to himself as he watched the small group leave from his sight. He turned to his captain and looked at her with curious eyes. “I don’t mind at all!” I wonder what she wants to talk about though…maybe she’ll reward me with something awesome for today’s work! Or maybe…
He suddenly looked worried. What if I did something wrong?!
Now sitting leisurely atop the two criminals, Jackie grinned as she watched her subordinate take down the Vulpix with relative ease. As he cuffed her, she laughed loudly and applauded. “Ha! See? Didn’t I tell you? I knew you could do it!”
She hauled herself up, the two men groaning in relief as the extra weight was taken off their backs. Grabbing both pairs of arms, she brought the men to their feet. The captain gave them a hard stare in the eye, and her voice suddenly took a more serious tone. “You don’t have any more companions, correct? It’s just you three imbéciles?” The two nervously looked at each other, then back at the Chandelure, and nodded their heads.
Seemingly satisfied with their answer, she smiled once more, her serious side vanishing almost as fast as it had surfaced. “Bien! We don’t have to deal with any more of you!” Jackie turned her head towards Coco, whose hands were full with the Vulpix, and called out to him, “These three should be the only ones! We can start heading back to the station without any problèmes…hopefully. Do you have her under control?”
“Yup, all under control here Cap!” Coco forced the Vulpix to stand up, earning a snarl from her. He stuck out his tongue at her and pulled her towards Jackie and the rest of the robbers.
“For a second there, I thought she had me but nope!” He smiled proudly at his Captain. “Let’s take this losers and put them behind bars!
The Chandelure nodded and offered him an encouraging smile. “Oui, of course I do!”
She snapped to attention when Coco cried out to her. The one who ran up to her—a Marill? She wouldn’t have too much of an advantage with her attacks here—aimed a punch at her stomach. She swiftly dodged it, twirling around his punch and grabbing his wrist tightly. Pulling on his wrist, she turned him around to face her and quickly pushed down on his wrist to send him scrambling to the ground. She then knelt on top of him, using one arm to pin his arm behind his back—unfortunately, she had no more handcuffs to spare. With her other arm, she yanked the Mr. Mime to the ground next to the Marill before he had a chance to escape.
Jackie made sure both were subdued, and looked up towards the remaining accomplice, a Vulpix. Seeing both her companions incapacitated, she bared her teeth in fury and charged towards them. The captain could have easily apprehended her as well, especially when the Vulpix’s judgment was clouded by anger, but sadly, her hands were already full with the two criminals. She called out to the Combee, “Officer Abielle! You’ll have to take her! I’m a bit occupée at the moment!”
Oh crap me? But I’m no good against a fire type! The Vulpix ran towards him and raised her hand, sending out a short burst of flame. He dodged it quickly and summoned up a small gust of wind, strong enough to send her stumbling back.
Using this small chance, the Combee ran to her and tackled her to the ground. Certainly not the best option but with only two move sets, he had no other choice. The lady clearly enraged, struggled in his grasp but he grabbed both her wrists with a strong grip. With his other free hand, he managed to take out his cuffs and handcuff her quickly.
Jackie beamed. “Heh, thanks. Fighting like that comes with practice, you know!” She wallowed in his praise, but…she still had to acknowledge the disadvantage the criminal had against her. “He was a psychic type anyways, so going up against him was no problem. I’m sure even you could have taken him!”
She turned her head slightly towards Coco again. “Are we doing alright from back there? You don’t see anybody suspicious, oui?”
“You think so?” He asked her as he imagined himself taking out the robber. He knew only two moves but he wondered if maybe he could manage himself!
Looking around, Coco kept a watchful eye. He caught sight of a pair not far in the distance who eyed them carefully. The man in handcuffs seemed to gaze at them as well. That’s strange…it looks like he’s waiting for them…
Right on cue, the pair sprung into action. Coco immediately recognized a Marill and a Vulpix. The Marill ran up to Jackie. “Captain! In front of you!”
“Hmhm, merci.” Resting her foot on the Mr. Mime’s back, she unloaded the gun with one sweep, placing the magazine and the gun itself in a small evidence bag. She handed the bag back to the officer. “I trust that you can handle this, oui?”
Hauling the criminal to his feet, she began to push him in the direction of the police station. “Let’s go, mon chéri! I still have paperwork to fill out, and your little escapade just added more to my pile.” She turned her head towards the Combee. “Stay behind me. He may have accomplices, and I have my hands full with this imbécile. You’ll be able defend me, right?” She winked.
“Of course!” Coco grabbed the bag and followed Jackie. “Hehe, heck yeah I will! I’m not gonna let no evil doers hurt my Cap!” He glanced around, trying to see if he saw anyone else that was suspicious.
“By the way Captain, you were really great out there! The way you knocked him out so easily! Wow…I could learn a few tricks by watching you!”
Well, everything went to merde pretty quickly. No matter. The cool-headed captain didn’t bat an eye even when the man trained the gun on them. From what she sensed, he was a psychic type—a Mr. Mime perhaps? She could easily take him.
Stepping in front of the officer, she disarmingly approached the man, a fox-like grin on her face. “You heard the Combee, don’t move. And while you’re at it, why don’t you put that gun down, mon chéri? It would help to ease this panic.” The Chandelure kept her hands behind her back the whole time, powering up two Shadow Balls to throw at the man in case things got ugly. The man hesitated for a moment, then growled, “Like hell I will!”
As soon as the man’s finger touched the trigger, Jackie quickly sent one of her Shadow Balls towards his gun hand, knocking the gun out of his hand and sending him staggering backwards. Holding the other ball in her hand, she yelled, “Officer Abielle! His gun!” Turning her attention back to the Mr. Mime, who was holding his hand in pain, she smirked. “Now, this could have been resolved a lot easier if you had listened to me. I’ll have to punish you for being a naughty little boy, won’t I?” She hurled the ball at the man, sending him to his knees. With him severely weakened by the two attacks, she easily pulled his arms behind his back and cuffed them. (Good thing she carried a pair of cuffs with her at all times!) Making sure he was subdued, she looked up at Coco, just a few feet away. “Are you alright? Do you have his gun?”
Everything seemed to happen so fast but Coco watched in complete admiration as his captain took down the robber with such ease. Wow she’s so cooooool! She’s so amazing! And the way she’s protecting me…awesome! He watched as the gun got knocked out of his hands and snapped back to attention when Jackie gave him an order. “Oh right the gun!” He ran to get it and once he obtained it, the Combee held onto it very carefully. Don’t want to set it off in accident, he thought to himself carefully as he made his way back to the Chandelure.
“Yup right here Cap!” He handed her the gun and looked back at the Mr. Mime. “I hope you think twice before messing with the Kagoshima police force!”
“Oui, you’re right. He does seem awfully suspicious. He looks a bit too anxious…” Jackie thought for a minute, then decided, “We should get a closer look, just to be sure. But we have to be furtifs, so that he doesn’t catch on!” She winked and began stealthily making her way over to the man.
F-furtifs…? Oh duh French! Coco followed his Captain as quietly as possible. The two couldn’t be caught or else the suspect would run away! Once they got closer, Coco was able to recognize the man as a Mr. Mime. Aha! A psychic type!
It seemed that the man caught onto them though and he suddenly pulled out a gun. Coco’s eyes widened as the people around them saw the scene and they began to run around in a frenzy. “I was right!” the Combee thought out loud as the man pointed the gun at them. “D-don’t move!” he yelled out loud nervously.
Yes, yes. Voleurs were the most common type of criminals out there, weren’t they? At least, in the movies they were. Jackie allowed herself to be dragged by the officer as they sped towards the bank. They arrived within a couple of minutes, and thankfully she didn’t need to catch her breath. The captain carefully examined the building, observing the people that walked inside and out. Casting a sly eye upon the Combee, she whispered, “So, do you see any bad guys?”
“Hmmm…” Coco mumbled as the two kept a watchful eye on the bank. Everyone seemed normal going about their errands. “Everything seems okay so far. Nothing seems too suspi— wait who’s that?” He pointed a man who seemed too nervous and fidgety. He kept looking around as if he were suspecting something to happen. “Hey, hey Jackie do you think he might do something? He looks kinda suspicious!”
“Oh my!” the Chandelure almost shrieked as Coco pulled her out the door. Soon she was reduced to a giggling fit as they raced down the sidewalk. “Heehee! W-wait, I need to catch my breath!” The two slowed and eventually stopped. She doubled over, breathing heavily. After a few seconds, she stood upright and tugged on her capelet to cover herself. “Whew! Je vais bien! …Now, to answer your question…” She tapped her chin in thought. “How about you lead us to where you think they will? Let’s see that deductive ability of yours in action, oui?”
He laughed along with her and waited for the Chandelure to catch her breath. “Hm…now if I were a bad guy what would I do…” Coco also tapped his chin in thought. If he knew anything from watching the news was that sometimes they striked at the most usual places…
“Let’s try the city bank!” The little Combee said a little too loudly. Lowering his voice to a whisper, he added “The bad guys always seem to go there first. C’mon!” He grabbed Jackie by the hand and led her to the nearest bank.
She thought so. Jackie’s smile grew into a grin as she suddenly slapped the young Combee on the back. “Ha! Oui, I know exactly what you mean! All this paperwork, ugh.” She rolled her eyes. “It’s simply horrendous how much of it there is and how boring it can be!”
“…Here, I’ll make you a deal. I’ll let this whole thing slide if…you let me come along. It’s been absolutely dull around here lately! No mafia activity, just troublemakers that we have to fill paperwork for! I could use a little fun—as well as a little break! It’ll be our little secret.” She held a finger to her lips. “Donc, what do you say?” The captain’s eyes shone with a mischievous glint.
The Combee stumbled a bit when Jackie suddenly slapped him on the back but! She knew exactly how he felt! Regaining his composure, Coco smiled up at her. “Oh man Cap Chevalier, now your talking! You can totally come along for the ride! Okay I promise I won’t tell anyone, not a soul.” Coco was fond of Jackie already.
“C’mon, c’mon lets not waste anymore time!” He practically dragged her out the building and out the gates. “So where do you think the bad guys will show up?”
